Woohoo! It's Holiday Time! and like always, I'm not going anywhere. Time to catch up with friends, read, draw, listen to music and laze around!
Now that I finally have some time to myself after a hectic first semester of uni, I've been looking back in my sketch book and getting ready to draw again. I wanted to take my time and see how I could improve from my drawings before and thats when I felt that all my drawings seem to lack soul.
Okay, so I haven't had any professional lessons but I feel like my art is less of a creative outlet and more of a make-my-piece-of-paper-pretty kind of thing. 99% of what I draw are from reference pictures, not that I trace or anything, but now I find that drawing what I see onto paper isn't giving me as much satisfaction as it used to.
I want to be able to make something awesome out of scratch, experiment with different mediums and really put some emotion into my art. And that there, I think, should be one of my new year resolutions (though I rarely follow through
